As you've probably heard, Generative AI now has a valuation attached to it. That number is approximately 30B. This means it's now part of your business strategy—whether that be in the form of building a moat or building the tools to cross over them.
Skeptics will dismiss technologies like ChatGPT as being "dumb"—they have a point—it misses a lot. Enthusiasts will hype it as the next big business imperative. They, too, have a point—it's too big to ignore.
The biggest points, however, will be made by the builders. Microsoft has announced ChatGPT integration with its search engine Bing! What do they have to lose? The world will learn a lot from this experiment at scale. It's slated for launch in March, which is mind-numbingly fast given that Open AI unleashed the Beta at the end of 2022.
And that's probably the biggest point of all and why the money is coming. It's the SPEED that generative AI is running at in such a short amount of time. That speed is impossible to ignore and will result in some organizations over-indexing on generative AI and others playing catch up.
But the money is here. And that means your attention should be too.

Interesting ideas, David. Here’s a thought, but it’s not likely to happen. What if all ChatGPT-like writing came with some sort of “watermark” so that readers could discern its origin.
