Thank you David. Truly read this as a breath of fresh air. My Wife and I practice many of the traditions learned from our roots and they have nourished great rewards for both ourselves and the clients we care for. We accept our changing world as it is inevitable, but always rely on our roots to ground ourselves and assist in finalizing our decisions.

David, I always enjoy your writing. Last night I was with a group of former Colleagues and they talking about the All New Nissan Pathfinder campaign “Return to Rugged”. They showed me the soon to be released ad. It’s excellent. It’s a collection of footage of the older Pathfinders building towards the All New Pathfinder. The ad captures the essence of your article. Watch for it!

Powerful piece David and it speaks to me on a deep level. My own paternal roots lie just to the west of Palermo, in Vita (Trapani), where my great grandfather was born in 1900. My entire family spoke Sicilian dialect and my grandparents last visited his first cousins in Boston in the late 1980s (i have extended family all over the US) they spoke in Sicilian because it was a common language to them. I gave my firstborn the middle name Giacomo in honor of my granddad and my two sons are learning Italian (their choice). Roots are essential and need to be nurtured to grow, literally and figuratively.
